Description
An easy, zero-knead cinnamon roll bake made with refrigerated biscuit dough for maximum flakiness. This sheet pan dessert is perfect for weekend brunch, feeds a crowd, and can be made ahead of time.
Ingredients
- 16 oz (1 can) refrigerated flaky biscuit dough
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 4 oz (113g) full-fat block cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: Chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Open the biscuit dough and press each round flat into thin discs.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until it resembles wet sand.
- Arrange the flattened biscuit discs in the prepared baking dish, leaving slight gaps between them.
- Brush the top of each biscuit generously with the butter-sugar mixture, drizzling any excess into the gaps.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until tops are golden brown and edges are bubbling. Cover loosely with foil if browning too quickly.
- While baking, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Whisk in milk or cream one tablespoon at a time until the glaze is thick but pourable.
- Remove bake from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes until warm to the touch.
- Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm bake and spread into the gaps with a spatula.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For maximum flakiness, do not press the biscuits too flat; give them a gentle lift to create separation. Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the glaze. If making ahead, assemble the night before, cover, and refrigerate. Add 2-3 minutes to baking time if baking from cold. The glaze does not freeze well; make fresh when serving.
