Description
Crispy baked chicken wings tossed in a sticky, sweet, and savory spicy gochujang honey glaze. This easy recipe delivers restaurant-quality flavor in under 30 minutes of active time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 2–3 tablespoons water
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, toss dried wings with baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until lightly coated.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the wire rack, ensuring they do not touch.
- Bake for 25 minutes, then flip wings and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy (internal temp 165°F). Optional: Broil for 2-3 minutes for extra crispness, watching closely.
- While wings bake, combine gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk ingredients together and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
- Remove wings from oven and immediately toss in a large bowl with the warm glaze until evenly coated.
- Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
Pat wings dry thoroughly for maximum crispiness. Do not substitute baking soda for baking powder. Use real honey for best texture. If using air fryer, cook at 380°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or air fryer to restore crispness.
