Description
A quick, healthy, and delicious one-pan dinner featuring wild-caught salmon and broccoli in a sticky honey garlic sauce. Ready in 20 minutes with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds salmon fillets (wild-caught Atlantic or Sockeye preferred)
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for searing)
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- White rice or quinoa (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Prep ingredients: Chop broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince garlic and grate ginger. Whisk honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and half the garlic in a small bowl. Pat salmon dry and season with salt and pepper.
- Sear salmon: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon in the pan and cook undisturbed for 5-6 minutes until golden. Flip and cook for another 4-6 minutes until flaky but moist. Remove to a plate and tent with foil.
- Cook broccoli: Reduce heat to medium. Add broccoli to the same skillet and sauté for 2 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and steam for 2 minutes until crisp-tender. Uncover to evaporate remaining water.
- Make sauce: Push broccoli to the sides. Add remaining garlic and ginger to the center and sauté for 30 seconds. Pour in the honey-soy mixture and stir constantly for 1 minute until glossy and thickened.
- Combine and serve: Return salmon to the pan, nestling into the broccoli. Spoon sauce over the fish and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Garnish with green onions and serve immediately over rice.
Notes
Pat the salmon dry before cooking to ensure a good sear. Do not overcook the salmon as it continues to cook after removal from heat. Steam the broccoli rather than boiling it to maintain texture. The sauce needs time to reduce and thicken properly.
