  • Author: SOFIA
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, refreshing homemade Thai iced tea that balances bold tea flavor with smooth sweetness, perfect for family and entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup (30g) Thai tea mix (Cha Yen)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Star anise and cardamom pods (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add Thai tea mix and optional star anise and cardamom pods.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 5 minutes until water turns deep orange-brown.
  4. Remove from heat and strain tea through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a heatproof bowl or pitcher.
  5. Press tea leaves gently to extract flavor without squeezing spices too much.
  6. While tea is hot, stir in granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
  7. Let tea cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Fill a glass with plenty of ice cubes.
  9. Pour chilled tea about 3/4 full into the glass.
  10. Add a splash of evaporated milk followed by a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk.
  11. Gently stir to combine and serve immediately.

Notes

Use authentic Thai tea mix for best flavor and color. Cool tea completely before adding milk to prevent curdling. Adjust sugar and milk to taste. Tea concentrate keeps in fridge for up to 3 days. For dairy-free version, substitute evaporated and condensed milk with coconut milk and cream.
