Description
A spicy, creamy, and sturdy buffalo chicken dip that is perfect for game days, tailgating, or parties. This forgiving recipe balances tangy buffalo sauce with rich cream cheese and cheddar for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces full-fat block-style cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup ranch dressing
- ½ cup buffalo sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie or canned)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Optional: ¼ cup blue cheese dressing
- Optional: 2 stalks green onions, sliced
- Optional: ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Shred the cooked chicken and cheeses if using blocks.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, and buffalo sauce. Mix until smooth and lump-free.
- Add garlic powder and onion powder; mix again.
- Stir in the shredded chicken and half of the cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
- Spread the mixture evenly into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and edges are slightly golden.
- Optional: Broil for the last 2 minutes for a browner top, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and black pepper before serving.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature to avoid lumps. Drain canned chicken well to prevent a watery dip. For serving, pair with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or pretzel bites. This dip does not freeze well due to the dairy content; it is best made fresh.
