Description
A foolproof, crowd-pleasing appetizer that combines cream cheese, imitation crab, and cheddar into a rich, savory dip. Ready in under 20 minutes, this dish tastes gourmet but is affordable and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 8 oz (225g) imitation crab meat, drained and chopped
- 1 cup (100g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3–4 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1–2 teaspoons sriracha or hot sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup crispy fried onions (for garnish)
- Crackers or chips for serving
Instructions
- Prep ingredients: Chop imitation crab meat into bite-sized pieces and drain well. Slice green onions and grate cheddar cheese. Soften cream cheese.
- Melt cream cheese: Heat a small skillet over medium-low heat. Add softened cream cheese and stir gently and constantly for 3-4 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Add flavor: Stir in minced garlic and soy sauce. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant, ensuring garlic does not brown.
- Incorporate crab and cheese: Add chopped crab meat and shredded cheddar to the skillet. Stir gently until cheese is fully melted and mixture is uniform (3-4 minutes). Add a splash of milk if too thick.
- Add heat: Stir in sriracha or hot sauce if using. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving bowl or slow cooker. Garnish with crispy fried onions and extra green onions. Serve immediately with crackers or chips.
