Description
These chewy caramel pecan turtle brownies combine gooey caramel, crunchy toasted pecans, and a rich, fudgy brownie base made with just five simple ingredients. Perfect for an indulgent treat that’s easy to make on repeat.
Ingredients
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated white sugar
- ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
- 10 individually wrapped caramel squares (about 160g)
- 1 cup (120g) chopped toasted pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes until fragrant and slightly darker. Set aside.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter and sugar together, stirring constantly until combined.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until just incorporated; do not overmix. Batter will be thick and glossy.
- Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease well. Spread brownie batter evenly in the pan.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until edges are set but center jiggles slightly when shaken.
- While baking, unwrap caramel squares and melt with 2 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Pour melted caramel evenly over the baked brownie layer immediately after removing from oven.
- Sprinkle toasted pecans evenly over the caramel layer, gently pressing them in to stick.
- Let the pan cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for 30 minutes to set the caramel.
- Cut into 16 squares with a sharp knife, wiping the knife clean between cuts. Serve slightly chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
Do not skip toasting the pecans for best flavor and crunch. Melt caramel slowly on low heat to avoid burning. Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean slicing. Let brownies cool completely before cutting to avoid mess. Optional: add flaky sea salt on top before chilling for a sweet-salty flavor. Substitute nuts or omit for nut-free version. Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute for all-purpose flour.
